Hope Buikema, 70, of Morrison, IL, died Monday, May 7, 2018, at her home, surrounded by her family.
Hope was born January 17, 1948, in Mexico City, Mexico, to Antonio and Beatriz Argueta. She married Allen D. Buikema on November 30, 1968, in El Paso, TX. Hope was employed by General Electric and Volckmann Furniture Factory, both in Morrison, and was employed as a Certified Nurse’s Aid in various nursing homes. She owned and operated Hope’s Craft Gallery in Morrison. She was a member of Ebenezer Reformed Church in Morrison. Hope enjoyed baking, gardening, and raising her five children.
Survivors include her husband, Allen; three daughters, Christine (Mark) MacDonald of Milan, IL, Suzanne (Larry) Seloover of Smithville, MO, and Marlene Buikema of Morrison; two sons, Allen (Rebecca) Buikema, Jr. of Clarkston, MI, and Michael (Courtney) Buikema of Fort Worth, TX; ten grandchildren, Brenden, Corbin, and Dylan MacDonald, Brittani and Lucas Seloover, Austin (Allie) VanDerLeest and Kenadi Hinrichsen, Leah and Ava Buikema, and Lillian Buikema; two step-grandchildren, Larry (Kailey) Seloover, Jr. and Nicole (Shawn) Christiansen; four great-grandchildren, Bradly and Skylar Anderson, Cameron VanDerLeest, and Wraith Christiansen; four step-great-grandchildren, Cadence, Peyton, Liam, and Avery Seloover; her mother; five sisters; seven brothers.
She was preceded in death by her father.
The funeral service will be 2:00 p.m., Friday, May 11, 2018, at Ebenezer Reformed Church in Morrison, with Ken Renkes officiating.
Visitation will be from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m., Thursday, May 10, 2018, at the Morrison Chapel of the Bosma-Renkes Funeral Home.
Interment will be at Grove Hill Cemetery in Morrison, IL.
A memorial to Lupus Foundation of America has been established.
