Historical Society to Honor Docents

Posted by

Like so many successful organizations, Morrison Historical Society depends on the services of dedicated volunteers.  You may have met some of these friendly folks, as they welcomed visitors to Morrison’s Heritage Museum, 202 E. Lincolnway Road, Morrison, IL, three days a week in 2012.  The museum is open from 1:00 to 4:00 p.m., on Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays, from April through November.

Acting as docents, volunteers ensure visitor access to the splendid local artifacts and special exhibits offered throughout the year.

The following individuals will be recognized on Sunday, January 20, 2013, at the MHS Annual Meeting.  The public is cordially invited to attend this yearly event.  A potluck meal begins promptly at 1:00 p.m. in the Heritage Hall of Morrison United Methodist Church, 200 W. Lincolnway.  Kindly bring your own table service and a dish to pass.

Or simply attend the program about 2:00, which follows the short meeting and recognition ceremony of the following docents.

  • Betty and Bill Abbott
  • Dorothy and Ed Abbott
  • Rev. Jim Camp
  • Darlene and Don Foster
  • Orville Goodenough
  • Gene Ryan
  • Bob and Pearl Yarbrough.

Ten of the members of the Board of Trustees also served as representatives to greet the public last year:

  • Doug McCulloh
  • Jack Ottosen
  • Treasurer Carole Patton
  • Steve Siefken
  • Dan Vandermyde
  • Michelle and Vernon VanDyke
