Emily and Kate Henson had both set making it to Regionals as one of their summer swimming goals. They went into their last-chance meet of the summer (at the Clinton Riverview Pool) with this goal in mind. Kate accomplished her goal first, by swimming the Regional qualifying time in the 50 backstroke. Her older sister, Emily, wasn’t going to be out-swum by her younger sister and qualified in the 50 and 100 Freestyle. They were both thrilled that all of their hard work had paid off.

The girls joined 820 other Illinois swimmers that had qualified to compete in the Speedo/Illinois Swimming Summer Regional Championship Meet on Friday, July 19, through sundaym July 21, 2013. Delta Aquatics hosted the meet at Oswego East High School in Oswego, IL.
The meet was a great experience for the girls. They are already hoping to qualify for the Winter Regional Championship Meet in February of 2014.
Kate swam a 39.58 (BB Time) in the 50 yard backstroke and cut 1.59 seconds off of her best time.
Emily swam the 50 yard Freestyle in 33.18 (BB Time) and cut 1.76 seconds off of her best time. Emily also swam the 100 yard Freestyle in 1:16.15 (BB Time.)
Congratulations, girls, on a great first Regional Meet!
