henry kramer jrHenry Kramer, Jr., 86, of Fulton, IL, died Monday, August 6, 2018, at Genesis Medical Center East, Davenport, IA.

Henry was born January 10, 1932, in Fulton, to Henry and Tena (Housenga) Kramer, Sr.  He was educated in the Fulton schools and graduated from Fulton High School.  He married Doris Mae Cross on January 16, 1952, in Garden Plain, IL.  After serving in the U. S. Navy for four years, Henry, along with his wife Doris, owned and published the Fulton Journal for over 35 years.

Henry was a member of several organizations in Fulton throughout his lifetime, including the Flood Protection District, Dike Beautification Committee, Friends of the Windmill, Whiteside County Zoning Board of Appeals, Fulton Chamber of Commerce, and a charter member of the Fulton Community Fund.  He was a volunteer windmill miller, volunteer at the Windmill Cultural Center, and the Dutch Days town crier for many years, as well as Dutch Days Grand Marshall.  Henry was a longtime member of the Fulton Country Club and the Fulton Presbyterian Church.  He enjoyed supporting the community and businesses of Fulton, promoting Fulton’s riverfront Windmill Cultural Center, gardening, bird watching, and spending time with his friends and family.

Survivors include two sons, Michael A. (Melinda) Kramer of Fulton and Wayne J. (Christine) Kramer of Richland, MI; six grandchildren, Christy (Aaron) Hackett, Scott (Sarah) Deters, Melanie (Manreet) Kalyan, Michelle (Orian) Hinrichs, Benjamin Kramer, Rachel Kramer; eight great-grandchildren, Adam Deters, Ariana Kalyan, Annaka Hackett, Wesley Hackett, Reece Kramer, Dylan Kalyan, Emmett Hinrichs, Avereigh Hinrichs; one sister, Lavece Temple of Thomson, IL; two sisters-in-law, Mrs. Edna Reynolds of Sterling, IL, and Mrs. Nancy Rector of Morrison, IL; several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Doris; one daughter, Debra E. Kness; one daughter-in-law, Barbara Kramer; two sisters, Alberta VanderEide and Loretta VanderVinne.

Cremation rites have been accorded.

A Memorial Service will be held at 4:00 p.m., on Friday, August 10, 2018, at the Fulton Chapel of the Bosma-Renkes Funeral Home, preceded by a memorial Visitation, from 1:00 p.m. until the time of the service.  Officiating is Rev. John W. Reynolds, Sr., retired Pastor.

Interment will be at the Fulton Township Cemetery, Fulton, IL.

In lieu of flowers the family requests that memorials be made to the Fulton Presbyterian Church and the Friends of the Windmill.
