Morrison Fire Department hosts its sixth annual “Caring for Our Community” toy drive, run in cooperation with donated toys and games from Morrison, IL, residents and businesses. The public has three opportunities to help both Santas and Mrs. Clauses fill the Morrison Fire Department vehicles, before departure later this month.
On two days, firemen will be present to receive your gifts.
- On Saturday, December 5, 2015, gather unwrapped, new toys and gifts and drive to the fire station, 206 W. Main Street, Morrison, between 10:00 a.m. and noon. Drive in comfort through the station and drop off your donation. Cash is acceptable; it allows the staff to purchase items that have not been donated.
- On Saturday, December 12, REPEAT AS ABOVE.
MFD and family members will match each child with a gift; wrap the surprise; offer personal, in-home, “Express Claus” delivery to local homes.
These “Toys for Tots” gifts serve Morrison young people across a wide age range, from infants through teens. It all depends on the make-up of the families who need a bit of help at Christmas time.
- A third way to assist in the toy drive is to purchase a raffle ticket to win a flat-screen television. Pat Weidel, manager of Shell Express Lane/Johnson Oil Company, 651 W. Lincolnway, Morrison, has partnered again with the MFD. Raffle monies will be donated to the toy drive. The random drawing will be at 2:00 p.m., Friday, December 11, at the business.
