Morrison Police Chief Brian Melton is proud to announce the Helmet Incentive Program again this year. The program started in 2009 to promote bicycle safety among our youth. It is only possible through the continued partnership and support of the DQ Grill & Chill owners, Ellen and Bart Smith.
The Helmet Incentive Program offers a reward to those children ages three-through-16 who wear their helmet when bicycling. Chief Melton explains, “Starting today, Friday, May 19, 2017, and continuing through the summer months, any time a Morrison Police Officer observes a child between the ages of three and 16 riding their bicycle with their helmet on, the Officer will reward that child with a coupon for ice cream at DQ Grill & Chill in Morrison, IL.”
Melton continues, “We hope this program encourages our youth to wear their helmets and practice bicycle safety when riding.”
