Helen R. Shambaugh (1918 – 2013)

helen shambaughHelen R. Shambaugh, 95, of Morrison, IL, died Monday, November 18, 2013, at Four Seasons Living Center, Morrison, IL.

Helen was born November 11, 1918, in Morrison, George L. and Alice M. (Rowland) Curtis.  She was educated in the Morrison Grade Schools and was a graduate of Morrison High School.  She married Louis G. Shambaugh on October 9, 1938, in Muscatine, IA.  He died April 25, 1973.  Helen was employed as a bookkeeper for the former Mills Ford Dealership in Morrison.  She later worked as manager of the former Ben Franklin Store in Morrison.  Helen was a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Morrison and the church’s Guild, and served as a Sunday School teacher.  She was a member of the Wa-Tan-Ye.  Helen was an avid Chicago Cubs and Bulls fan.  She enjoyed attending her grandchildren’s school and athletic events.

Survivors include two daughters, Nancy (Rich) Glazier and Sally (Arlyn) Hayen both of Morrison; five grandchildren, Bob (Linda) Glazier, Carol (Steve) Wolf, Keith Hayen, Kent Hayen, and Jennifer (Jeff) Giesking; eight great-grandchildren, Cassie and Jessie Glazier, Collin and Erica Wolf, Olivia and Evan Hayen, Carter and Kara Giesking.

She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband, Louis.

FUNERAL SERVICE:  11:00 a.m., Thursday, November 21, 2013, at the First Presbyterian Church, Morrison, IL

OFFICIATING:  Rev. Michael Selburg, Pastor, at First Presbyterian Church, Morrison, IL

VISITATION:  10:00 a.m. until the time of the service, Thursday, November 21, 2013, at the First Presbyterian Church, Morrison, IL

The Bosma-Renkes Funeral Home in Morrison is in charge of arrangements.

INTERMENT:  Grove Hill Cemetery, Morrison, IL
