Helen M. Temple, 81, of Morrison, IL, went to be at rest with the Lord on Wednesday, January 15, 2014, at Morrison Community Hospital in Morrison.
Helen was born on May 28, 1932, in Morrison, to John and Dora (Kuehl) Port. She was educated in the Prairie Center Grade School and graduated from Morrison High School. She married George Louis Temple on December 14, 1950, in Morrison. Helen, along with her husband, farmed in rural Morrison starting in 1955, until they moved to town in January of 1971. She worked for the former Volckmann’s Furniture in Morrison, and later worked for GE for over 20 years, until her retirement in 1992. Helen was a member of Emmanuel Reformed Church in Morrison. She enjoyed flower gardening, crafts, sewing, and spending time with her family.
Survivors include her husband of 63 years, George; one daughter, Sally Ward of Morrison; two sons, David (Linda) Temple and Robert (Judith) Temple, both of Morrison; ten grandchildren, Jeannie (Jon) Thulen, Tiffany (Brooks) Soleta, Monica (Gary) Steen, Justin (Rebecca) Temple, Brandon Temple, Dorrie (Scott) Manon, Sherry Price, Jason (Katie) Akker, Andrew Akker, Halie Jo Ward; 15 great-grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by one sister, Annette Scott; three brothers, Richard, Wilbur, and Kenneth Port; one great-great-grandson, Liam Scott Manon.
FUNERAL SERVICE: 10:30 a.m., Saturday, January 18, 2014, at Emmanuel Reformed Church, Morrison, IL
OFFICIATING: Mr. Rich Criss, Ministry Coordinator, Emmanuel Reformed Church, Morrison, IL
VISITATION: 4:00 to 7:00 p.m., Friday, January 17, 2014, at the Morrison Chapel of the Bosma-Renkes Funeral Home
INTERMENT: Grove Hill Cemetery, Morrison, IL
