Thomson, IL, Depot Day is looking for a few hardy souls to enter the Annual Outhouse Races on Saturday, June 18, 2016. The competition is “stiff” and the designs are “outstanding.”

- Regulations require four pushers and one sitter.
- Houses may be made of any material as long as it is at least nine square feet and has an enclosed “necessary.”
- Names for houses are encouraged.
- Each house must have four wheels and a pole for the pushers.
A one-block course, up and down, is set up, and heats are timed in pairs.
Last years’ winners, Thomson Prison, used larger wheels, chain link fence, and lots of muscle. They took home the coveted “Golden Plunger.” This year a $100 prize is offered for the winner, with $50 for second, and $25 for third–along with the coveted “Golden Plunger!” Come on communities, show your pride. Take on these Thomson Prison hunks!
This year, Thomson Fire Department is taking on “all comers.” The men are daring neighboring fire departments to “beat their heat!”
