Harry W. Johnson, 89 of Prophetstown, IL, died Saturday, October 24, 2015, at Resthave Nursing Home in Morrison, IL.
Harry was born January 4, 1926, in Prophetstown, the son of Elmer and Verna (Burdsall) Johnson. He served his Country in WWII with the U. S. Navy. He graduated from Bradley University after his discharge from the military. He married Dorrine Gibson in 1949; she preceded him in death in 1982. Harry later married Joanne “Josie” Snodgrass in 1989. He worked as an Accountant and Business Manager for Rock River Lumber & Grain, retiring in 1991. He was a member of First Lutheran Church and the Lions Club, both of Prophetstown. As an active member of the Lions Club, he devoted much of his time to the Toys for Tots and 4th of July Fireworks projects. Later in life, he and his wife, Josie, enjoyed woodworking and arts and crafts.
He is survived by his two children, Eric (Mary “Mimi”) Johnson, Bettendorf, IA, and Erica Hostetler, Ithaca, NY; stepchildren, Beth (Lonnie) Rice, Nina (Charles) Rumfelt, Robert (JoAnn) Snodgrass all of Morrison, Susan (James) Miller of Prophetstown; sister, Rosemary (Joel) Sibley, Ithaca; grandchildren, Tracy Kleparsky, Megan Johnson, Caitlin Hostetler, Barrat Hostetler, and numerous step-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; first wife, Dorrine, in 1982 and second wife, Josie, in 2013; brother, Howard Johnson.
Funeral service will be held at 1:00 p.m., Thursday, October 29, 2015, at First Lutheran Church, Prophetstown, IL.
Visitation will be Thursday, October 29, 2015, from 11:00 a.m., until the time of service at the church.
Burial will follow in Riverside Cemetery, Prophetstown, IL.
Memorials may be made to the Prophetstown Lions Club.
