Donald L. Miller is a well-liked and admired Morrisonian, who has been a teacher, thespian, organist, and Odell Public Library Board member. He continues to be an international traveler and visits England nearly every year.
On Saturday, October 3, 2015, he celebrated his 87th birthday among well-wishers at one of his favorite establishments, the Donnybrook Bakery Café, 203 W. Main Street, Morrison, IL. Jean Zinnen greeted him warmly when Miller arrived at 3:00 p.m.
“He was my teacher. We served together on the Library Board [for many years], and we have traveled together,” stated Zinnen. “We have history!”
There were amusing cards from those who attended the gathering and lots of text messages and Facebook birthday greetings throughout the day. Miller was overwhelmed with the outpouring from those near and away. All he could do was “Like” their comments, he said.
The Editor treated the guest of honor to a warm, apricot, white-chocolate chip scone and latte. Owner Debby Vaughn supplied the red candle.
Miller’s 87th birthday wish remained appropriately private. However, those around Don Miller openly expressed their best of wishes for him.
