Morrison Historical Society will feature Marc Gravert as the Program Speaker, on Sunday, May 19, 2024. Doors open at 1:00 p.m., with his “Farm Tool School” program beginning promptly at 1:30. The location is 202 E. Lincolnway, Morrison, IL. Morrison’s Heritage Museum is accessible to all, from a ramp behind the 1865 building, which is listed on the National Register of Historic Places.
Gravert stated, “I have lived on the family farm for 58 years in the Spring Valley area, where I raised, showed, and farmed with Belgian horses for 40 years. The most horses I ever had at one time was 30 one year, back when I was young and had only one thing on my mind. I have been featured in several draft horse books over the years and have entered many, different shows in the Midwest. I was the closest thing to Amish in this area for many years!” he noted.
Gravert’s deep interest in early modes of farming is the focus of the “obscure” tools he will display. Area farm families–retired or current–are urged to attend this program to help identify and discuss quirky, vintage tools and machinery.
Refreshments will be served.
