Grace J. Green, 94, of Resthave Care & Rehabilitation in Morrison, IL, died Friday, May 12, 2023, at Resthave.
Grace was born February 21, 1929, in rural Sabula, IA, to Henry and Esther (Doyle) Tillis. She was educated in the rural Clinton, and Jackson County, IA, schools and graduated from Sabula High School in 1945. Later she attended Mount St. Clare College in Clinton. On June 16, 1956, she married William M. “Bill” Green in Sabula. He died June 1, 2006. Grace worked for the Curtis Company in Clinton for ten years, and she then farmed with her husband in Ustick Township for 35 years, before retiring to Morrison in 1991. She was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church. Grace was an avid Chicago Cubs fan, and she dearly enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She loved baking and made thousands of chocolate chip cookies; the cookie jar was never empty for long.
Survivors include her daughter, Janet Green of Morrison; son, Tom (Karla) Green of Morrison; four grandchildren, Jacob and Elizabeth Green, Tyler (Dan Hernandez) Smith, and Sarah (Neal) Mahoney; three great-grandchildren, Ayden Alan, Aly Juel, and Annabelle Irene Mahoney.
Grace was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Bill; son, Michael J. Green.
A Funeral mass will be at 10:00 a.m., Friday, May 19, 2023, at St. Mary Catholic Church in Morrison, IL, with Rev. Father Slawomir Zimodro officiating.
There will be a Visitation from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m., Thursday, May 18, 2023, at the Morrison Chapel of the Bosma-Renkes Funeral Home.
Interment will be in the Grove Hill Cemetery in Morrison, IL.
Memorials to St. Mary Catholic Church and Resthave Care & Rehabilitation have been established.
