Grace E. Langan, 69, formerly of Hillsdale, IL, died Saturday, August 10, 2013, at St. Anthony’s Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Rock Island, IL, where she had been a resident.
The former Grace Elizabeth Toppert was born May 17, 1944, in Geneseo, IL, the daughter of Earl H. and Mabel (Powell) Toppert. She graduated from Riverdale Junior High in 1958 and then Erie High School in 1962. She was a former co-owner of the Rustic Inn in Hillsdale. She married Gary Langan on May 22, 1993. She continued to work in the restaurant business, holding jobs at the former Ben’s Gourmet House in Rock Island, IL, the Officers Club at the Rock Island Arsenal, and Hardee’s in East Moline, IL.
Grace was a great cook. She also enjoyed fishing and gardening and was an avid book reader. She was a super wife and will be greatly missed.
Survivors include her husband Gary of Hillsdale; brother and sister-in-law, Gale and Dorothy Toppert, Morrison, IL; six grandchildren, Katie, Denise, Kaylum, Zach, Alex, and Joby.
She was preceded in death by her parents and a sister, Jackie Bell.
There will be no services. Gibson – Bode Funeral Home & Cremation Services, Port Byron, IL, is handling arrangements.
