Grace Dorothy Poel, 82, of Cordova, IL, passed away Tuesday, December 5, 2017, at Resthave Home, Morrison, IL.
Grace was born January 21, 1935, in rural Rock Island County, IL, to Henry and Bernice (Gilbert) Lawrenz, Jr. She married Harlan “Bud” Poel on August 11, 1960, at the Cordova Baptist Church. Grace worked in the mailroom for Amatech, Stanley Home Products in the early 1980’s and finished her career with Pinkerton Security, stationed at the 3M plant. She played the piano and organ for several churches. She loved her music and shared that with her family. Grace loved to sew and cook. She enjoyed traveling to see lighthouses, traveling with the family in the camper, and with Bud on the motorcycle. She was a member of Wildwood Church.
Grace is survived by her husband, Bud Poel, Cordova; children, Deborah (Jim) Nelson, Bloomington, IL, Daniel (Robbie) Poel, Weldon Spring, MO, David (Tina) Poel, Atkinson, IL, Terri (Tony) Kreisel, Belton, MO, Michael Poel, Cordova; brothers, Gilbert Lawrenz, Morrison, IL, and Clarence (Betty) Hall; ten grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; many cousins, nieces, and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents and son-in-law, Ed Grove.
Services will be held at 10:00 a.m., on Monday, December 11, 2017, at the Gibson-Bode Funeral Home, Port Byron, IL.
Visitation will be from 1:00 to 3:00 p.m., on Sunday, December 10, 2017, at the Gibson-Bode Funeral Home, Port Byron, IL.
Burial will be in the Cordova Cemetery, Cordova, IL.
Memorials may go to a memorial fund to be established.
