The Morrison High School Golf team hosted its end of the the year Awards Night on Wednesday, October, 17, 2018. The presentation took place over a dinner at Happy Joe’s Pizza restaurant in Morrison, IL.
Golfers left-to-right include Alex Wakeman, Dayton Young, David Stralow, Noah Vanzuiden, Jacob Brown, Mason Dykstra, and Isaac Melton.
The evening concluded with the naming of this year’s Most Valuable Player and Most Improved Player.
Most Improved Player: Mason Dykstra
Mason is a Freshman golfer at MHS. He is relatively new to the game but did a great job. Early in the season, he averaged scores in the lower 60’s to upper 50’s. By year’s end, he had two scores that were in the 40’s. Mason’s future looks bright as a Morrison golfer.
Most Valuable Player: Jacob Brown
Jacob was one of two Seniors on this year’s golf team. This is his second year on the High School Golf team. Jacob is everything that a coach wants out of a player. He works hard, puts in extra time, is extremely coachable, listens, and does a good job. When he started two years ago, he had scores in the 60’s. This year he averaged a 55, but also had scores in the 40’s. Jacob’s mental approach is something that all players should strive to attain.
