The Morrison Mustangs climbed on their bus and traveled to Mercer County on Saturday, January 23, 2016, to battle the Golden Eagles in a non-Conference matchup. The Morrison High School team came home with a 62-44 non-Conference defeat.
The game was close in the opening half, and the Eagles (10-8) led 30-26 at intermission. A sluggish third period by Morrison (9-10), in which they scored merely five points, gave their adversaries an opening that they did not relinquish.
The Mustangs trailed 49-31 after the third stanza and lost in the end by the final tally of 62-44. Bryce Smith and Joey Brackemyer shared the scoring honors for Morrison, with 11 points each. Mercer County’s Senior forward Spencer Wood was the game’s high scorer with 18 points.
