Gloria Anne (Phillips) Grams (1933 – 2025)

Gloria Anne (Phillips) Grams, 92, of Morrison, IL , passed away peacefully, Friday, February 28, 2025, at Resthave Care & Rehabilitation in Morrison.

Gloria was born on February 19, 1933, in Oskaloosa, IA, to Elmer and Victoria (Allen) Phillips.  She was educated in the Oskaloosa schools through her Junior year, until her family moved.  She then graduated from Davenport, IA, Central High School in 1951.  After graduation, Gloria attended Sauk Valley Community College in Dixon, IL.  She married Carl H. Grams on August 4, 1951, in Davenport.  Gloria and Carl celebrated 50 years of marriage before his passing on October 8, 2001.  In October of 1958, they moved to a ten-acre homestead in Morrison, where they raised their three children and many different animals.  They referred to their home as the “101 Ranch.”

Gloria was employed by the Whiteside County Soil and Water Conservation District as a Secretary and Administrative Coordinator for 19 years, until retiring in 1993.  She also worked part time for the Regional Superintendent of Schools.  Gloria enjoyed traveling with her husband; they visited every State except five southern states and Hawaii.  She also enjoyed attending her grandchildren’s sporting events and school activities.  She was a member of St. Peter Evangelical Lutheran Church-LCMS, in Morrison, where she partook in the Chancel Guild and Ladies Aid.  She was also a member of the Morrison Diet Club and the Whiteside County Natural Area Guardians.  Gloria volunteered her time to Golden Meals and enjoyed watching Dancing with the Stars.  She also participated in water aerobics at the YWCA in Clinton, IA, where she made special friends.  She passionately cheered on the St. Louis Cardinals through the TV and in the stands.

Survivors include her daughter, Cindy (Ted) Bush of Morrison; sons, Marty (Deb) Grams of Morrison, and Gordy Grams of Dubuque, IA; nine grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren and one on the way.

She is preceded in death by her parents; husband, Carl; sisters, Margaret “Dot” Piersol and Mary Pittman.

A Visitation will be held on Saturday, March 8, 2025, beginning at 9:30 a.m., at the Morrison Chapel of the Bosma-Renkes Funeral Home.

It will continue until the start of her Funeral Service at 11:00 a.m., officiated by Ken Renkes.

Interment will take place at 11:00 a.m., on Monday, March 10, 2025, at Rock Island, IL, National Cemetery.

The family has established Memorials to Resthave Care & Rehabilitation and St. Jude Children’s Hospital.
