Girl Scout Week Honors 105 Years

Posted by

GSacolytesThe general public is cordially invited to a Community Girl Scout Sunday Service to initiate Girl Scout Week.  Sunday, March 12, 2017, is the 105th anniversary of the founding of Girl Scouts.  All families and individuals–particularly former Girl Scouts–are welcome at Morrison United Methodist Church, 200 W. Lincolnway, Morrison, IL, from 10:15 to 11:15 a.m.  Sunday begins Daylight Saving Time, so be sure to adjust your clocks forward Saturday evening, March 11.

Nursery care is available for children under age five.

Daisy, Brownie, and Junior Girl Scouts will

  • help ring the church bells
  • hand out programs
  • light candles
  • share with the congregation what they like about Girl Scouts
  • thank the church for letting them meet there this year.

Girls who earned the “My Promise My Faith” pin will receive them that day; all girls in attendance will receive a patch.

During the troop meeting Monday, March 13, at Odell Public Library, 307 S. Madison Street, Morrison, Scouts will celebrate the Girl Scout birthday and learn about Girl Scout traditions.

They can earn a “Girl Scout Week” patch by completing activities each day, from Sunday, March 12 through Saturday, March 18.  This chart has suggestions.
