3CookieBoxesDid Main Street smell sweeter Monday morning, February 22, 2021?  Morrison, IL, took receipt of nearly 4000 boxes of Girl Scout cookies!  Owner Sidonna Mahaffey offered her business, Moms On Main, 121 E. Main Street, as the 10:00 a.m. delivery site.  Girl Scout Leader Hillary Blevins verified the order with the driver, who unloaded and grouped the town’s cookies into eight flavor towers.    Each case contains a dozen tasty boxes.

Experienced Girl Scout cookie purchasers recognize their favorites by the color of the box–and the delivery cases.

There are 28 Girl Scouts in Girl Scout Troop #1504, from grades Kindergarten through seven.  Online and in person, 25 girls sold a record 3900 boxes.  This was made more remarkable, considering limitations of personal sales contact, during the novel coronavirus pandemic.  Many customers also donated boxes of cookies to front-line, health care workers or overseas Military troops.

Blevins, several parent volunteers, and two girls took on the sorting process.  One girl at a time, they gathered specific amounts of cases and loose boxes, which matched each cookie order form.  They made 25 piles across the floor and atop tables; each girl’s order form was placed on her pile.  Parents picked up the boxes; a third sorting began at home; preparation was made for individual customer orders and delivery.
