Ahead of the 2024 Election Certification Ceremony (Tuesday, December 17, 2024, in Springfield, IL), Secretary of State Alexi Giannoulias will preview how the process works, Monday, December 16, at 11:00 a.m., in the third floor Blue Room, 555 W. Monroe Street, Chicago, IL, 60661. His office oversees the certification process.
Certified Electors, representing 17 Congressional Districts and the two U. S. Senate seats, will meet at the State Capitol to vote for the candidates that their party nominated.
After the Electors vote, all 19 will sign documents, that members of Congress will open as part of the Counting and Certification of Electoral Votes, on Monday, January 6, 2025, at the U. S. Capitol in Washington, DC.
