Sheriff John Booker wrote, “I would like to introduce our newest members of the Whiteside County Sheriff’s Office, 1.5-year-old German Shepherd ‘Amor’ along with seven year Deputy Derek Hamstra. Amor is a German Shepherd from Poland. Deputy Hamstra and Amor leave on Sunday, March 1, 2020, for a six week K-9 program in Michigan. The duo will return in mid-April and hit the roads of Whiteside County running.
“Right now there are only a couple of canines in the County. Amor will be a public relations tool as well as a great tool for Law Enforcement. Whether Amor is tracking down a fugitive or finding a lost child, Amor will be a positive addition to the Sheriff’s Office.
“As Sheriff, my office will continue to use all tools to aide in making Whiteside County a safe place to live.”
