Geraldine Martin-Wainman, 93, of Sterling, IL, died Saturday, July 20, 2013, at Walnut Manor.
Geraldine was born June 11, 1920, in Kankakee, IL, the daughter of John and Jennie (Carr) Dobson. She married Glenn Martin on December 31, 1936, in Dixon, IL. He preceded her in death on February 20, 1983. Geraldine was employed as a Licensed Practical Nurse at CGH Medical Center for 17 years. She also worked at Pleasant View Rehabilitation & Health Care Center in Morrison, IL, and at Golden Meals. She was a volunteer firewoman in Florida. She attended Harvest Time Bible Church in Rock Falls, IL. She previously had been an active member of the Sterling Moose.
Survivors include two daughters, Shirley (Rolf) Sampson of Sarasota, FL, and Jennie (Richard) Brauer of Fenton, IL; one son, Robert (Eileen) Martin of Sterling; one brother, Eugene Dobson of Mesa, AZ; 11 grandchildren, Wendy Sanders of Carbondale, IL, Bob Martin of Minneapolis, MN, Lauri Kimura of Irvine, CA, John Martin of Morrison, Tom Sucher and Richard Sucher, both of Perry, IA, Emory Mullins of Naperville, IL, Dawn Nardini of Rock Falls, Payton Leigh of Sterling, Glenn Leigh of Bolingbrook, IL, and Colin Leigh of Sterling; 23 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren.
She also was preceded in death by her parents; one daughter, Linda Coville; one sister, Jeanette Walters; one great-granddaughter, Melinda Heppler.
Visitation will be from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m., Thursday, July 25, 2013, at McDonald Funeral Home in Rock Falls, IL.
The funeral will be at 11:00 a.m., Friday, July 26, 2013, at the funeral home, with Dalmus Meeks, Pastor of Harvest Time Bible Church in Rock Falls, officiating.
A memorial has been established to Mooseheart Orphanage.
