George H. Blender, 90, of Prairie Hills at Clinton, in Clinton, IA, formerly of Fulton, and Morrison, IL, died Thursday, October 16, 2014, at Mercy Medical Center North, Clinton.
George was born June 26, 1924, in Dallas City, IL, to Charles and Bernice Blender. He was educated in the Peoria, IL, grade schools and attended Central High School in Peoria. He served in the United States Army during WWII. He married Marcille L. Weber on March 13, 1943, in Peoria. She died November 27, 2007. George was engaged in farming in the rural Morrison and Lyndon areas and was also a carpenter. He enjoyed woodworking, crafting many elegant pieces of furniture. He also built his own home in Fulton.
Survivors include three daughters, Mrs. Cheryl Rairden of Davenport, FL; Marcia (Tom) Montgomery of Linn Creek, MO; Joan (Rick) Norman of Fulton; seven grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Marcille, one sister, and one brother.
