George Edwin Glazier, 86, of Morrison, IL, died Saturday, September 24, 2016, at Genesis Medical Center East, in Davenport, IA.
Funeral services will be at 10:30 A.M. Thursday, September 29, 2016 at the Morrison United Methodist Church with Rev. Ryan Sutton officiating. A visitation will be held from 4:00 – 7:00 P.M. Wednesday, September 28th at the Morrison Chapel of the Bosma-Renkes Funeral Home. Interment will be at Grove Hill Cemetery in Morrison.
George was born January 13, 1930, in Whiteside County, to Edwin D. and Mary (Engelkens) Glazier. He was a life-long resident of Whiteside County, IL, and was educated in the Whiteside County grade schools. He was a graduate of Erie High school. On June 5, 1951, he married Ramona Mercer in Erie, IL. He worked on the family farm, until taking a job as a finishing supervisor at Champion Packages. George was a proud veteran, serving in the U. S. Army during the Korean War. He is a member of the Morrison VFW and American Legion Post #328. He was a member of the Morrison United Methodist Church. In his younger days he was an avid hunter and fisherman. He enjoyed playing cards and was a St. Louis Cardinals fan.
Survivors include his wife of 65 years, Ramona; five children, Jeffery of Summerville, SC; Angela (Eric) Rehmert of Owensville, MO, Phillip (Cindy) Glazier of Taylorville, IL, Tamara (Bruce) Menneke of Moline, IL, and Jamie (Tim) Schwingle of Sterling, IL; five grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; two sisters, Marjorie (Roger) Rhoads of Fenton, IL, and Lillian Unger of Morrison.
He was preceded in death by his parents; one daughter-in-law, Elayne Glazier; three sisters, Hazel “Marie” Conner, Catherine “Irene” Bush, and Reva Armstrong.
