Gene C. Biermann, 91, of Clinton, IA, died Tuesday, July 26, 2022, at The Alverno in Clinton.
Gene was born May 26, 1931, in Clinton, to Walter K. and Elfrieda (Martensen) Biermann. He was educated in the Clinton grade schools and was a 1949 graduate of Clinton High School. He graduated from Clinton Community College in 1952. He served in the United States Army during the Korean Conflict. Gene married Gloria F. DeWeerdt on November 25, 1953, in Fulton, IL. She died November 1, 2019. He was employed at Clinton National Bank, where he was serving as Vice President at the time of his retirement in 1996. He was a charter member of Community Reformed Church in Clinton, where he served as Elder and Deacon, and was a Sunday School teacher. Gene was a member of the Clinton Lions Club, the Gideons Society, and the American Cancer Society, where he served as County Chairman and County Treasurer. He also served on the Springdale Cemetery Board of Directors in Clinton. Gene and Gloria enjoyed traveling after Gene retired.
Survivors include his daughter, Gayle (Roger) Dykstra of Thomson, IL; six grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; sister, Evelyn Haas of Morrison, IL; sisters-in-law, Donna Dykstra of Clinton, and Carol Biermann of New Jersey.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Gloria; daughter, Gena Biermann; son, Gerry Biermann; sister, Lucille Dietz; brothers, Walter Biermann, Jr., Richard Biermann, and Robert Biermann.
His Funeral service will be held at 10:30 a.m., on Saturday, July 30, 2022, at Community Reformed Church in Clinton, IA, with Ken Renkes officiating.
Visitation will be held from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m., on Friday, July 29, 2022, at the Fulton Chapel of the Bosma-Renkes Funeral Home in Fulton, IL.
Interment will be at Clinton Lawn Cemetery in Clinton, IA.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that memorials be made to The Gideons International and Community Reformed Church Mission Fund.
