Posted by

SpringCreekSchool1897Raise your hand if you attended a rural Whiteside County schoolhouse.  Raise your other hand if you have a photograph to document that.

Your attendance is requested at the next program hosted by Morrison Historical Society, on Sunday, July 16, 2017, at 1:30 p.m.  To avoid being tardy for the entertainment, arrive when the doors open at 1:00.  You will have time to peruse the collections in the former Congregational Church, Scientific and Literary Society, and Odell Public Library.

This free event at Morrison’s Heritage Museum, 202 E. Lincolnway, Morrison, IL, is open to the general public–even if they never attended country schools.

Harvey Geerts will teach you the history of several of the old, rural schools in northwestern Whiteside County.  Geerts, a Fulton, IL, native, spent his career in the defense industry in California and moved back to Fulton after retiring.

He has been active with the Fulton Historical Society, doing genealogical and historical research since 2009.

Refreshments will be served.  The building is accessible to everyone from the ramp, at the parking lot behind the museum.
