Friends of the Parks Foundation is pleased to announce it has been awarded a $1500 grant from the Morrison Area Community Foundation. The grant was used to provide funding for the purchase of 15 trees, that were planted along the Morrison-Rockwood Recreational Trail.
Friends of the Parks member Ann Slavin stated, “It was great to partner with the Morrison Area Community Foundation on this project. What a gift Dr. Dick Vandermyde gave to all of us, when he founded the foundation.”
The row of young trees fills in the spaces along the path just beyond the wooded area, and continues north-by-northwest to the trailhead, at Damen Road.
Species include Eastern Redbud, Snowdance Japanese Tree Lilac, and Spring Snow Flowering Crab. All are showy, flowering trees to add springtime color to your walk, or run, or bike ride. Enjoy them from your car as you pass by.
