Frederick John Geiger, 79, passed away on Tuesday, December 20, 2023, at Reading Hospital, West Reading, PA. He lived in Morrison, IL, for over 30 years.
Born on July 4, 1944, in Aurora, IL, he was the son of the late Leonard Francis and Juanita Mary (Donkle) Geiger. Frederick was a proud graduate of the United States Naval Academy in 1967, specializing in Nuclear Engineering. He worked for almost 30 years with Commonwealth Edison as an Operating Engineer and Developer of databases. In retirement he returned to West Reading and built databases for Gaspari Mushrooms; volunteered for the hospital; served the Borough of West Reading on the Wyomissing Joint Municipal Authority, as a Board member for 13 years and Treasurer for ten years. Fred held regard for higher education and obtained additional degrees in Computer Information Systems and earned an MS in Professional Management. He was a lover of music, arts, film, history, dancing, and humor.
Frederick is survived by his daughter, Elise Charmaine Geiger of Chicago, IL; son, Ian Frederick Geiger and his wife Tracy Banks Geiger of Madison, WI; grandchildren, Sydney F. Geiger of Chicago, Gwendolyn Geiger, Liam Geiger, and Rowan Geiger all of Madison; twin brother, Clayton Peter Geiger, of West Reading.
A viewing [was] held Wednesday, December 27, 2023, from 11:00 a.m. to noon, at Kuhn Funeral Home, West Reading, PA.
