Frank C. Ward, 94, of Morrison, IL, died Wednesday, May 13, 2020, at Resthave Care & Rehabilitation in Morrison.
Frank was born June 9, 1925, in Morrison, to Jay H. and Susie M. (Hart) Ward. He was educated in the rural Whiteside County grade schools and was a graduate of Morrison High School. He attended the University of IL at Galesburg, IL. He was a veteran of the U. S. Navy, serving in the Pacific Theater during WWII, on the USS California. On September 7, 1957, he married Leona M. Stern in Sterling, IL. She died on January 31, 2020. Frank farmed in the rural Morrison area for 45 years. Most recently he was employed as a custodian at the Whiteside County Courthouse. He was a member of First Lutheran Church of Jordan and served on the church s Council. He was a member of Whiteside County Farm Bureau and Morrison American Legion. Frank enjoyed reading, hunting, and fishing.
Survivors include daughter, Colleen (Robert) Kelper of Morrison; son, David (Becky) Ward of Sabula, IA; five grandchildren, Nathan (Jessica Dodd) Hinrichs, Nolan Hinrichs, Matthew (Carli) Ward, Derek (Tara) Ward, Halie (AJ) Burge; seven great-grandchildren, Lilah and Emersyn Ward, Brantley Hinrichs, Parker Dodd; Austin, Trace, and Bryclyn Shoup; sister, Harriett Houseman of Morrison; brother, Donald Ward of Prophetstown, IL.
He was preceded in death by his wife; granddaughter-in-law, Lisa Ward; brother, Jay Ward, Jr.
There will be a private family graveside service at Oak Knoll Memorial Park in Sterling, IL, officiated by Pastor Carol Soderholm of First Lutheran Church of Jordan, Sterling.
The Morrison Chapel of the Bosma-Renkes Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
