If you were familiar with the Fourth Fridays events in Sterling, IL, that have occurred the last two years–take another look. It’s changing! Sterling Main Street and the Sauk Valley Area Chamber of Commerce want to encourage everyone to “Think Local. Buy Local. Be Local.” on Friday, April 25, 2014.
The original Fourth Fridays concept, created in 2011, is changing directions to encourage more local businesses to participate.
“While many of the participating businesses will still be featuring the local cultural community as part of the day’s activities, we want people to think outside the box when thinking about how to participate in Fourth Fridays,” said Janna Groharing, Executive Director of Sterling Main Street. Think local, buy local, be local in all you do goes beyond just shopping.
What does this mean? The Fourth Fridays all-day concept is designed to have increased participation from area businesses, as well as expanded hours to give people more time to visit participating businesses.
- Is it time to make a will? Think local on the fourth Friday of each month and make an appointment with a local attorney to have it done.
- Need to book a trip? Visit your local travel agent first instead of going online.
- Have you always had an interest in volunteering for a local non-profit, but haven’t taken the time to do it? Use Fourth Fridays to contact the non-profit of your choice and learn how to be active in the community.
Nearly 30 local businesses are participating in the Friday, April 25 event. For a complete list of participating businesses and a list of their specials and/or events, please visit www.fourthfridayspac.com.
