He asked, “Are you or anyone you know in need of food assistance, in the Morrison, IL, area? Here is what is currently available.

MORRISON CHARITABLE FOODPANTRY
Location: United Methodist Church, 200 W. Lincolnway, Morrison, IL
Scheduled: Non-holiday Thursdays from 8:00 – 10:00 a.m.
Offering produce, dry and canned goods, meat, dairy, and toiletries. Please come to the parking lot entrance located under the drive-through awning. Clients are offered assistance once a month and must bring proof of address when signing up, as service is only provided to those in the Morrison Community Unit School District #6.


EBENEZER REFORMED CHURCH PRODUCE GIVEAWAY
Location: 309 E. Park Street, Morrison, (use back parking lot entrance)
Scheduled: Non-holiday Thursdays at 11:00 a.m. Fresh produce from the Sauk Valley Foodbank. Just show up. All are welcome!


SAUK VALLEY FOODBANK PARKING LOT PANTRY DAY GIVEAWAY
Location: 1801 Plant Drive, Sterling, IL (next to Self Help & across the street from Halo)
Scheduled: Non-holiday Saturdays from 10:00 a.m. to noon
Offering produce, mixed dry goods, bakery items, meat and dairy items. Drive-up into the line of vehicles; volunteers will load your vehicle when you make it to the building. If you are in the parking lot by noon, you will be served. All are welcome!


FIRST PRESBYTERIAN CHURCH OF MORRISON, IL
Location: 100 E. Lincolnway, Morrison
Free Community Drive-Up Meals, located at the Genesee Street entrance of First Presbyterian Church. Drive-up and free meals are delivered to your vehicle. All are welcome!
Offered January to August, the last Thursday of the month; September to December, the 2nd Thursdays of the month. Meals are served starting at 5:00 p.m. much of the year, with meals starting at 4:30 p.m. during the winter months (November through February.) Free Community Produce Table, located on the corner of E. Knox Street and N. Genesee Street, next to First Presbyterian Church. During the growing season, community members and local farmers share fresh produce from their gardens. The rest of the year, it continues to collect general food donations from the community. On Thursdays, Ebenezer Reformed Church and the Morrison Charitable Food Pantry deliver the remainder of their produce.


EMMANUEL CHURCH FREE MEALS
Location: 202 E. Morris Street, Morrison
Scheduled: Wednesdays at 5:30 p.m. during ten weeks in the winter (mid-January to mid-March) and ten weeks in the fall (mid-September to mid-November.) Free meals are dine-in or drive-through. All are welcome!


GOLDEN MEALS – DELIVERY PROGRAM
Location: Home delivery service
Scheduled: Daily, Monday to Thursday
Offering the delivery of hot mid-day meals to persons 60 years of age and older or those on disability. Meals are delivered Monday to Thursday, with extra meals available for Friday, as well as frozen meals for the weekend. A suggested donation of $3 per meal is requested. Meals may be delivered during a short recuperation period or on a permanent basis. To begin home delivery meal service, call 815-626-4442.


WOMEN INFANTS AND CHILDREN (WIC) PROGRAM
The WIC Program is a supplemental food and nutrition education program, intended to improve the nutritional status of women, infants, and children. WIC provides a variety of services including financial assistance for certain food items and baby formula. Women must live in Whiteside County and meet Federal income guidelines to be eligible. Call the Whiteside County Health Department at 815-626-2230, extension 1214 / TDD: 815-772-4044.


SNAP: SUPPLEMENTAL NUTRITION ASSISTANCE PROGRAM
The Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (formerly known as Food Stamps) provides food assistance to low-income families. SNAP benefits can be used to purchase food items at authorized grocery stores and other retailers, as well as seeds and plants for use in home gardens to produce food. Additional SNAP Programs include: Cash Assistance, Child Care, Health and Medical Housing, Mental Health, and Youth Services. Call the DHS Family Community Resource Center in Whiteside County at 815-632-4045.
