Floyd M. Haas (1926 – 2013)

floyd haasFloyd M. Haas, 87, of Morrison, IL, died Monday, November 11, 2013, at his home.

Floyd was born July 20, 1926, in Massbach, IL, to Elmer L. and Carrie C. (Albrecht) Haas.  He was educated in the rural Jo Daviess County Grade Schools and was a 1944 graduate of Mt. Carroll High School in Mt. Carroll, IL.  He served in the United States Army during the Korean War.  Floyd married Evelyn H. Biermann on February 4, 1951, in Clinton, IA.  He started farming in the rural Massbach area.  After moving to Clinton, Floyd worked for E. I. DuPont.  When he moved to Morrison, Floyd engaged in farming along with his wife, Evelyn.  He also served as the Clyde Township Road Commissioner and worked for General Electric Company in Morrison while farming fulltime.  Floyd was a member of the Bethesda Lutheran Church in Morrison, where he was a member of the Church Council.  He was a member of the Loyal Order of the Moose in Clinton; the National Farmers Organization; Whiteside County Farm Bureau. Floyd served on the Clystic School Board in rural Morrison and, along with Evelyn, volunteered at Morrison Friends Food Pantry.

Survivors include his wife, Evelyn; one daughter, Lynn Dykstra of Morrison; three sons, Dave Haas of Clinton; Bill (Midge) Haas of Stillman Valley, IL; Jim (Holly) Haas of Muskego, WI; eight grandchildren, Karen (Steve) Ullrick, Janelle (Brett) Herbeck, Susan (Dan) Bartel, Bryan (Cassidy) Haas, Shawn Haas, Nathan Haas, Ben Haas, Will Haas; six great-grandchildren, Madeline and Jacob Ullrick, Lucy and Owen Herbeck, Caleb Bartel, and Makayla Haas.

He was preceded in death by one daughter, Lori Haas; two brothers, Warren Lavere and Leland Haas.

FUNERAL SERVICE:  2:00 p.m., Saturday, November 16, 2013, at Bethesda Lutheran Church, Morrison, IL

OFFICIATING:  Rev. Bob Burton, Pastor of Bethesda Lutheran Church, Morrison, IL

VISITATION:  3:00 to 7:00 p.m., Friday, November 15, 2013, at Bethesda Lutheran Church, Morrison, IL

The Morrison Chapel of the Bosma-Renkes Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

INTERMENT:  Grove Hill Cemetery, Morrison, IL
