Governor J. B. Pritzker ordered all U. S. and Illinois flags to half-staff from Thursday, January 20, through Saturday, January 22, 2022, in honor of Child Protection Specialist Deidre Silas.
Silas, a 36-year-old investigator with the Illinois Department of Children and Family Services, was stabbed to death on Tuesday, January 4, when she responded to a call of possible endangerment of children in a home, in Thayer, IL.
