The yoga and wellness community of the greater Quad-Cities area will create the first yoga festival on Friday, July 15, through Sunday, July 17, 2016, at the Holiday Inn Rock Island, 226 17th Street, Rock Island, IL. Tickets are $225 for a weekend pass; $200 for Saturday and Sunday; $175 for Saturday only; $55 for Sunday only; $30 for Friday only. They are available now at radishmagazine.com/yogatickets. “This exciting new community yoga event will provide genuine connections between students, teachers, studio owners, and those interested in learning more about yoga. The unique combination of classes, presentations, and workshops will provide an immersion into yoga like no other,” said Chris Cashion, festival coordinator and yoga enthusiast. “We have such an incredible yoga community in the Quad Cities, and we are fortunate to be so rich with amazing teachers. It’s exciting to see everyone coming together….It’s going to be amazing!”
The Yoga Fest will offer insight and experiences for the seasoned yogi and beginner alike.
Friday registration is at 4:00 p.m. Sara Strother will give the keynote address at 6:00, followed by a community yoga session at 6:30, led by Jeani Mackenzie, founder and director of the Davenport School of Yoga. The evening will conclude with a party, including a DJ, cash bar, and snacks.
Saturday includes more in-depth and advanced practice for all levels, from beginner to advanced students, as well as yoga teachers. Sessions are at 9:00 a.m. and 12:30 and 3:30 p.m, with six class offerings during each session. Lunch will be provided.
Sunday will be a day to Rest, Relax and Explore yoga. Sessions are at 8:00 and 11 a.m., with six class offerings during each session. The closing ceremony will be at 1:00 p.m.
A meditation room with guided and personal meditation time will be available throughout the weekend, and a vendor marketplace will be on-site.
In addition to local teachers and studio owners, the fest will feature classes with Quinn Kearney, Sara Strother, and Jim Bennitt, of the Chicago, IL, area. Never before have so many yoga talents been combined in one venue in the Quad-Cities.
