It is easy to determine what these Morrison, IL, firefighters are up to–in the month of November–in preparation for the month of December 2013. They are beginning the Morrison Fire Department “Caring for Our Community” toy drive. Left-to-right are John VanDerLeest, Barry Brown, Kent Shepard, Rob Hudson, Mark Cox, and Rob Vegter.
Annually, the Morrison Fire Department distributes toys to local school children in need. Your family is eligible if you have children who attend school in the Morrison School District and are presently enrolled in the free lunch program.
Additional recipients may be those who are unemployed or live in unemployed households, as determined on a case-by-case basis.
If your family fits the criteria, or if you know a family that does, please let the firemen know before Sunday, December 1. Drop a note in the Fire Station mail slot, 206 W. Main Street, Morrison, or call 815-772-2218 and leave a message.
Please include the following information:
- household contact name
- number of children
- address
- phone number.
Monetary donation also are accepted, so the members can shop for additonal gifts. There are donation cans at local gas stations and stores.
