The Morrison Fillies struggled in the first half, but stepped up the pressure in the second to win the Galva Turkey Tournament by beating Elmwood 45-37.
The Fillies jumped out to an early 10-2 lead but allowed the Elmwood Lady Trojans up with the ball handling and scoring of junior Shyann Jones. The Fillies allowed penetration that resulted in sending the Trojans to the line eleven times of which three followed a made basket. The Lady Trojans recovered and owned a 24-21 half time lead.
The halftime adjustments paid dividends for the Fillies as the Trojans were not allowed a point until the 2:26 mark of the third period. A hard collision forced Elmwood to play much of the third quarter without Jones and the Fillies took a 39-30 lead into the final period. The final quarter saw the Fillies slow down the offense and they maintained the lead to earn the title with a 45-37 win.
