As the weather eases and the clocks turn back an hour, the Morrison Fillies Softball team is preparing for a season under new, Head Coach Kim Snider. A graduate of Maroa-Forsyth High School and Eureka College, Eureka, IL, Coach Snider spent the past five years as Head Coach at Forreston, IL, High School. She accomplished a .710 winning percentage, that was capped with an IHSA Class IA Third place finish in 2022.
Noting her excitement about being in Morrison she added, “My Coaches had a great impact on my life, and I want to positively impact each of my players!” She opened practice with a philosophy for the girls “to be good people first,” and they will be taught good, sound Softball skills–so success will follow. Twenty-eight Fillies make up the 2023 squad, with a mix of seven Juniors and Seniors, nine Sophomores, and 12 Freshmen. Snider expects the team to be fundamentally sound, and that they are composed of a good mix of speed and power.
As a Coach, Snider wants each player to know how much she cares for them, and that her desire for them is to be successful. This team will enter the season as an “underdog” in most games. She asks the community to attend and support the Fillies.
The Coaching Staff that will assist Coach Snider are Luke Schouten, Chelsea Eads, and Ceara Stanton.
The Fillies will have 15 home games scheduled at the Morrison Sports Complex, with all games beginning at 4:30 p.m. They travel to Stockton, IL, on Monday, March 13, 2023, to open the spring. They return on Wednesday, March 15, to start the home schedule against the Amboy, IL, Lady Clippers.
Team support builds confidence, and confidence builds success. The community plays a big part in any team’s success. Support the Fillies!
