A four-run fifth inning combined with an 11 strikeout performance from Brooke Stralow allowed the MorrisonHigh School Fillies to record their second win of the young season, on Wednesday, March 30, 2016.
The Fillies opened the scoring in the fifth inning. Emily Szabo reached on an error and that was followed with a four-run outburst, created by consecutive hits by Emma Melton (2B), Madison Steines, Stralow, Jaedon Workman, and Lauren Panier. Stralow drove in the final run in the seventh inning, after Steines reached on an error, advanced to second on another error, and stole third before the RBI single.
The Lady Clippers only had one player reach base on an error in the first four innings. Stralow struck out seven of the first 13 batters she faced. They loaded the bases to start the fifth inning but were unable to plate anyone. Stralow recorded her eighth strikeout before retiring the Clippers on a double play.
