Only two days ago, the Morrison High School Fillies shut out the Fulton, IL, Lady Steamers 16-0. On Monday, April 18, 2016, they repeated the task, by closing out the neighbors from the west 11-0 in five innings.
Lauren Pannier cruised through the first four innings, allowing only two singles to the lead off hitters of the second and fourth innings. Brooke Stralow pitched the fifth inning striking out all three batters she faced.
The Fillies’ offense scored three in the second inning off of a single by Emma Sitzmore, a triple by Madison Steines, and a walk to Emily Szabo, before an error on an Emma Melton ball plated two more runs. Three more Fillies crossed the plate in the fourth inning: a Sitzmore double; a hit by a pitch on Sarah Ostrander; an error on a Melton ball scored one before Lauren Vos drove in two more with a single. The fifth inning started with a Melton triple and a Vos double, to plate one run. A fielder’s choice and a walk loaded the bases. Ostrander‘s single scored two more. A Fulton error allowed the decisive runs to plate and ended the five inning contest, due to the ten run rule. Final score was Morrison 11, Fulton 0.
