The 2016 edition of the Morrison Fillies Softball team finally took the field, on Wednesday, March 23, 1016, with seven underclassmen in starting roles.
They left the field with a quiet 2-1 win over the Orion, IL, Chargers.
The lone Orion run was unearned. MHS pitchers Lauren Pannier and Brooke Stralow only allowed seven hits while striking out ten (10).
Morrison’s offense scored their first run in the fifth inning, with back-to-back doubles by Emily Szabo and Emma Melton. Szabo scored the deciding run in the seventh inning when she walked, stole second, and scored on two wild pitches, to earn the win for Stralow. Stralow led the Fillies offense going three-for-three with three doubles.
