On Saturday, May 7, 2016, Conant High School (Hoffman Estates, IL,) used the home run to score four of their five runs. But the Morrison Fillies pounded out 13 hits and 11 runs to cage the Cougars, 11-4, in their third game of the day in the Marengo Tournament.
The Fillies opened scoring in the first inning on an RBI double by Brooke Stralow and a two RBI double by Emma Sitzmore. Three more runs crossed in the second inning on doubles by Emma Melton, Lauren Vos, and Emily Szabo, to advance the lead to 6-0. The third inning started with Eryn Young getting hit by a pitch and Szabo slapping a double, before a Melton double drove both runners home. Madison Steines drove in a fourth inning run. The Fillies ended their scoring on a two-run home run by Stralow in the fifth inning, to close an 11-4 win and end the day with two wins and one loss.
