The game of softball can not always be decided by the final numbers in the score book as the Morrison Fillies proved at Taylor Ridge Monday evening, April 4, 2016. They won the hits battle but failed in the all important runs category as they lost 8-2 to the Rockridge Lady Rockets .
The fifth inning was one to forget as the Lady Rockets put the first two batters on base via the walk before the Fillies hit the third batter with a pitch to load the bases. Two runs scored as two more walks were issued before a combination of two singles and a costly Fillies’ error allowed the score to ramp up to 8-0 on only two hits in the inning. The Fillies rebounded for two runs in the seventh on singles by Lauren Pannier, Lauren Vos, Sarah Ostrander and Emily Szabo, but left with a disappointing loss on a cold and breezy night in Taylor Ridge.
