The Morrison Fillies finally won the battle against the weather when they took the field to start a much-delayed softball season.
Their bats were active from the beginning as they greeted the Oregon Lady Hawks with four runs in the first, and two in the second, inning. Fillies’ starter, Allie Wiersema, went five innings, only allowing one extra base hit and six singles in her inaugural start. Freshman Lauren Pannier made her varsity debut with one inning of scoreless relief.
The offense was led by Chelsea Eads with three singles and a double. Wiersema followed with two singles and a double. They were supported by Pannnier, Alyson Renkes, and Hannah Vanderlaan who also slapped extra base hits.
Oregon 0-2-2-0-0-0-0 = 4
Morrison 4-2-1-0-0-1 = 8
