The Morrison High School Girls Basketball season progressed with each scheduled game including a question mark. The Fillies stayed focused. They earned three wins during a week of competition.
On Saturday, January 8, 2022, the Fillies traveled to Eastland to attack the Dakota, IL, Lady Indians. The latter girls rostered a team of only six players, where only three contributed to the scoring. The Fillies recorded a 56-38 win. Scoring was led by Shelby Veltrop (20) and Camry Veltrop (15). Support came from Diana Robbins (8), Emery Brewer (6), Kendra Fisher (4), and Jordan Eads (3).
On Wednesday, January12, they returned home to host the neighboring Newman Central Lady Comets. The Fillies wasted no time in showing their dominance in the paint and closed the opening quarter leading 26-to-4. Inside scoring of the Veltrop sisters (Shelby -21, Camry-16) was complimented outside with eighteen points from Kendra Fisher and the Fillies rolled to a 71 to 17 win.
The COVID-19 virus continued to affect sports activities throughout the area. On Thursday, January 13, the Morrison Fillies traveled to Orion, IL, with only Varsity players, because the Fresh-Soph game was canceled. Jumping off to a 15-to-9 first quarter lead, the Fillies expanded their lead each quarter. They finished with a 61-to-36 victory. Scoring was led by Camry Veltrop (22) and Shelby Veltrop (16), with good outside support from Jordan Eads (8), Kendra Fisher (8), and Diana Robbins (7).
