On Saturday, July 6, 2024, at approximately 10:13 p.m., a Whiteside County Deputy conducted a field ID on a suspicious person in the 400 block of 2nd Avenue East, in Lyndon, IL. While the Deputy was speaking with the suspect, Ryan E. Poulter, age 38, of Lyndon, Poulter drew a firearm from his waistband. The Deputy was able to restrain Poulter and take him into custody, without injury to himself or Poulter. It was later learned that the handgun carried by Poulter was reported stolen from Saginaw, MI. Poulter was arrested and transported to the Whiteside County Jail, where he was held pending his pre-trial detention hearing.
The Sheriff’s Office was assisted by Prophetstown Police Department and the
IDNR Conservation Police.
Poulter was charged with the following offenses:
(1) Possession of a Stolen Firearm – Class 2 Felony
(2) Unlawful Possession of a Firearm by a Felon – Class 3 Felony
(3) Aggravated Unlawful Use of a Weapon – Class 4 Felony – (two Counts)
(4) Violation of an Order of Protection – Class A Misdemeanor.
The public is reminded that all persons are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
