February 8 Sheriff’s Office Report

These arrests are merely a charge, and he/she is presumed innocent until proven guilty.

On 2/07/18 at 3:53 p.m., Deputies responded to a multiple-vehicle accident on U. S. Route 30 just east of Lyndon Road.  During the course of the investigation, it was determined that a bus driven by Chauncey L. Gibbs (78) of Sterling, IL, was traveling west on U. S. Route 30 and did not see traffic stopped on the roadway.  Traffic was stopped due to a school bus which was unloading students.  Gibbs’ vehicle rear-ended a truck driven by Nicholas G. Crocker (37) of Prophetstown, IL, a car driven by Elizabeth R. P. Anderson (22) of Spring Grove, IL, and a school bus driven by Maddison M. Ducker (23) of Morrison, IL, prior to coming to a rest in the south ditch.  The accident remains under investigation by the Whiteside County Sheriff’s Office.  Deputies were assisted on scene by Morrison EMS, Morrison Fire Department, Prophetstown/Lyndon Fire and EMS, and the Illinois State Police.

On 2/08/18 at 5:50 a.m., Deputies responded to a single-vehicle rollover accident on Interstate 88 near mile marker 29.  During the investigation, it was determined that a vehicle driven by Mariana C. Vasquez Gallegos (21) of Zion, IL, was traveling east on Interstate 88, when she lost control of her vehicle.  The vehicle rolled multiple times, coming to a rest on the roadway.  Vasquez Gallegos and her passenger Esmeralda J. Avalos (20) of Beach Park, IL, we both transported by Prophetstown Ambulance to CGH Medical Center, Sterling, IL, for treatment of non-life threatening injuries. Vasquez Gallegos was cited for Driving While License Suspended.  The investigation remains under investigation.  Deputies were assisted on scene by Prophetstown/Lyndon Fire and Ambulance.

On 2/08/18 at 7:40 a.m., Deputies responded to a multiple-vehicle accident at the intersection of U. S. Route 30 and Elston Road.  During the investigation, it was determined that a vehicle driven by Timothy K. Perry (22) of Albany, GA, was traveling west on U. S. Route 30 and did not observe traffic slowing in front of him.  Perry swerved to avoid colliding with a passenger car and went onto the north shoulder of the roadway.  Perry then struck a school bus, which was traveling west on U. S. Route 30 and turning onto Elston Road.  As a result of the crash, Perry as well as three students were transported to Mercy Medical Center, Clinton, IA, for treatment of non-life threatening injuries.  Perry was cited for failure to reduce speed to avoid an accident.  The accident remains under investigation.  Deputies were assisted on scene by Fulton EMS, Fulton Fire Department, Albany EMS, Clinton Fire Department, and Fulton Police Department.
