Trucking regulations can be complicated, and farm exemptions compound the problem. It seems everyone has a different answer to your question. To to find out what you need to know, come join us from 8:00 to 10:00 a.m., on Friday, February 8, 2019, at the Whiteside County Farm Bureau, 100 E. Knox Street, Morrison, IL.
Presenters will be Kevin Rund and Kirby Wagner, who specialize in farm transportation issues for the Illinois Farm Bureau®. They will provide take-home materials covering these topics.
The seminar is free, courtesy of the Whiteside County Farm Bureau® and Illinois Farm Bureau®, but advance registration is required. Email whitesidecountyfarmbureau@gmail.com or call 815-772-2165, by Wednesday, February 6, to reserve your place at the On-the-Road Seminar.
This two-hour seminar will focus on trucking laws–old and new–specifically for farmers. We will introduce you to new rules; remind you of the ones that still apply; help you figure out whether exemptions are available.
Trucking laws have been reshaped in recent years with more changes yet to come. Rules recently affected include
- farm exemptions
- Harvest Season permit
- Electronic Logging Devices (ELD’s)
- waivers for insulin-related diabetic drivers
- a news class “C” license plate
- Covered Farm Vehicle options for small trucks
- the UCR payment schedule and fees for 2019.
Ask those farm truck questions that everyone seems to have an opinion about, but no one can agrees on an answer.
