February 25 Sheriff’s Report

02-19-14 at 4:50 p.m.  Jeff M. English, age 57 of Clinton, IA, was stopped for speeding on U. S. Route 30 near IL Route 136, Fulton, IL.  Jeff was arrested for No Valid Driver’s License as well as Speeding 69/55 MPH.  He was bonded on scene and released pending a future court date in Morrison, IL.  Midwest Collision assisted on scene.

02-19-14 at 4:32 p.m.  Michael Van Dellen, age 53 of Fulton, IL, was stopped at the intersection of 12th Street and 9th Avenue in Fulton for failure to signal when required.  With further investigation, Michael was cited for No Valid Driver’s License.  Michael was bonded and released on scene pending a future court appearance.
 
02-20-14 at 5:44 a.m.  Deputies responded to a semi-tractor trailer vs. car accident with possible injuries on U. S. Route 30 near the intersection with Acker Road.  Upon further investigation, the semi-tractor trailer driven by Timothy W. Sharp, age 56 of Deer Grove, IL, was traveling westbound on U. S .Route 30 approaching Acker Road, when he lost control on the icy roadway, causing the semi tractor-trailer to strike the guardrail on the north side of the road.  The semi’s trailer left the roadway and slid westbound, dumping steel beams across the road, and broke off the rear axle of the semi-tractor, impeding both lanes of travel.  Katelyn E. Petersen, age 22 of Charlotte, IA, was also traveling westbound on U. S. Route 30, and she was unable to stop before striking the axle in the middle of the roadway.  Timothy was transported by Fulton EMS to Mercy Hospital for his injuries, while Katelyn sustained no injuries.  Assisting on scene were Morrison Police Department, Fulton Police Department, Fulton Fire and EMS, Illinois Department of Transportation, as well as Ince’s Towing and Hunter’s Towing.

Whiteside County Sheriff’s Office announced the arrest of 36-year-old Jackie Ferguson of Tampico, IL, on the offense of Burglary.  This has been an ongoing investigation of Burglary at K’s Korners in rural Sterling, IL.  The burglary occurred during  the early morning of Wednesday, February 12, 2014.  Ferguson is one of three suspects.  Charges will be filed on the other two; one of the suspects is a 17-year-male juvenile.  Ferguson is being held at the Whiteside County Jail.

On 2/23/14 at about 12:24 a.m., Deputies arrested the following, resulting from a traffic stop on Route 30 and Yorktown Road, rural Sterling, IL.  Zachary T. Billings, 20, or Rock Falls, IL, was arrested for DUI-Alcohol, DUI-BAC Greater than .08, Improper Lane Usage, Illegal Transportation of Alcohol, Possession of Alcohol as a Minor, and Consumption of Alcohol as a Minor.  Also arrested was Gaije R. Drane-Fowkes, 20, of Sterling, for Illegal Transportation of Alcohol, Possession of Alcohol as a Minor, and Consumption of Alcohol as a Minor.

On 2/23/14 at about 5:51 p.m., Deputies responded to a vehicle crash with injuries at the intersection of Route 30 and Frog Pond Road, rural Fulton, IL.  Investigation revealed a 2000 Chevrolet pickup truck driven by Gerald W. Werkheiser, 52, of Fulton, was northbound on Frog Pond Road and disobeyed a stop sign at the intersection.  He was struck by an eastbound 2001 Nissan, driven by Tyler H. Stubblefield, 25, of Rockford, IL.  Both were treated at the scene, but Gerald’s juvenile passenger was not injured.  Gerald was arrested for DUI-Alcohol, two counts of Aggravated DUI-Alcohol, Endangering  the Life/Health of a Child, No Insurance, and Disobeying a Stop Sign.  He was taken to the Whiteside County Jail.  Tyler was arrested for Driving While License Suspended and released with a Notice to Appear in court.  Fulton Police, Fire, and EMS provided aid.      


These arrests are considered merely charges, and he/she is considered innocent until proven guilty.
