The Morrison Board of Education convened on Monday, February 23, 2026, with all members present except Jennifer Patton.

Opening comments by Brian Bartoz gave an overview of the Morrison High School Key Club:

  • currently consists of 37 members over all grade levels.
  • partners with Morrison Kiwanis Club.
  • proceeds from promotions benefit April House; WHOA; United Way’s Literacy is for Everyone; Odell Public Library; Morrison Say Care; Morrison Little League Baseball and Softball; Morrison Charitable Food Pantry, NFP; Morrison Historical Society.
  • partners with the City of Morrison to run Golden Agers Bingo Nights.
  • members volunteer as elves during the Christmas Walk.
  • partners with Morrison Student Council to staff The Custom-Pak Employee Picnic each August.
  • volunteer at some Video Game Nights at Southside Elementary.
  • join FFA students in assisting Morrison Lions Club during Community Recycling Day.
  • partner with The American Legion to recognize veterans on Memorial Day.
  • Key Club has logged 662 hours of service within the school and community since June 1, 2025.

Bartoz closed by noting, “Through our service to youth, to senior citizens, and to the broader community, Key Club seeks to develop a commitment to leadership and service among its members.”

Initial actions included the following personnel:
New hire:  Ceara Stanton – MHS F/S Softball Coach
Volunteers:  Jordan Gallentine – MHS Girls Track; Koby Brackemeyer – MHS Girls Track; Ruth Christin – MJHS Quiz bowl; Jenny Malooly – MJHS Quiz Bowl.
Resignations (end of 2025-2026 school year):  Tracy Terry – MJHS Special Education Teacher;  Luke Lawson – MHS School Guidance Counselor;  Kevin Kilker – MHS Business/Technology Teacher.

A unanimous vote approved the motion to adopt the resolution declaring the intent to issue $7,200,000 Working Cash Fund Bonds of the District, for the purpose of increasing the District’s Working Cash Fund.

A unanimous vote approved the purchase of curriculum for the following Social Studies courses at Morrison High school, at the start of the 2026-2027 school year:  U. S. History, World History, and AP Geography.  Total cost of the curriculum is $21,333.59.

The Morrison School Board of Education will hold Monday Regular Meetings at 6:00 p.m., at the District Office (100 E. Knox Street, Morrison, IL,) on the following 2026 dates:  March 16; April  20; May 18; June 22.
